One patient describes her symptoms prior to the VNUS Closure procedure, "I had pain in both legs from my knee to ankle. My right leg was more severe, and I had pain and cramping. The pain lasted for over a year."
The patient consulted a doctor and after being told it was her knee causing the problem, she began physical therapy.
"Several orthopedic surgeons thought it would be best to have knee surgery. I was told that I had phlebitis and hospitalized for a week doing compression pumps six times a day. They sent me home with pumps to use daily for the rest of my life. I was to wear compression hose all the time. I was told I would have to quit work and live with what pain I had."
The patient describes her next step. "My family doctor referred me to Dr. Hatchett. I'm very thankful he did. The Closure procedure was a godsend. I have no pain and can walk without a cane or walker. I do believe in the procedure. It's great"

Another patient relates, "Since the 70s I have had increasing problems with swelling, protruding veins, aching legs, and discomfort. I have had to wear support hose since the 70s. The problem got so bad I could barely walk. My symptoms were so bad that I decided to have my veins stripped. I talked with my doctor and he said there was a better way. The recovery time is much less with this procedure and does not have to be repeated like many of the stripping surgeries that are done."
After treatment of both legs, she reports, "It has been fantastic! For the first time in 30 years I do not have swollen legs. I did not wear support hose a single time this last school year. My legs lost several inches around and lost the aching. I would recommend this to people who want to be able to lead a normal life after suffering for years with discomfort and health issues. It has cosmetic benefits but those are really secondary to those of us who finally have relief."
